I think many of you have seen videos of the successful use of various drones by our heroic warriors! They use them to conduct reconnaissance, correct fire, detect clusters of enemies, drop shells, and do many other interesting things.

In addition to specialized devices such as Bayraktar, the guys are quite effective in using small commercial drones, such as DJI Mavic. They are not very expensive, easy to use, and the benefits are great: they help unnoticeable to see who sits where. Of course, with Chinese commercial drones, you need to keep in mind the safety of use, so that suddenly the enemy does not follow you back, but I know that our soldiers are smart and understand all this. 😉

However, it is not enough to have a drone and be able to use it. The fact is that it flies on a single charge for about 40 minutes. And so, imagine, you got closer to the enemy, sat in the bushes, launched a drone, flew for half an hour, and then what? Run back to charge? You can’t run here and there, and it's dangerous. So you need spare batteries. And a lot. So you can fly during the day and only return to the location in the evening.

📦 I am buying spare batteries for drones for our soldiers, who are currently fighting in Luhansk region. The first batch has already been delivered to them, but more is needed. Moreover, the guys themselves have got extra drones of different models, so we need different batteries.

Batteries are still available in various stores, they cost from 120 to 200 euros, depending on the model of the drone. We need to raise around 2000 euros for the purchase of 15 pieces.

Along with the walkie-talkies, which I wrote about in the last post, I am raising funds for additional batteries. Drones are not only extra eyes, but in the skillful hands of our soldiers they can cause a lot of trouble to the enemy. But I will write about it in the next post. 😉

The military needs a reliable connection - I think that's understandable. Imagine you go on a mission, launch drones, track the movement of the enemy - you need to be able to transmit information quickly, often over long distances, and your and your colleagues life depends on the speed and accuracy of that information.

Ordinary mobile will not help here - the coverage will most likely not be somewhere in the middle of the field. Radios are needed. There exist analog (cheaper) and digital (more expensive) radios. What's the difference? In simple words. When you shout to your friend on the other side of the street, your words are transmitted in analog form by sound waves. When you call someone in Skype or WhatsApp, your words in digital form fly on the Wi-Fi waves somewhere to the Internet. It's very simplified, but you can understand that the analog signal is prone to interference, it has a lot of noise, and it is easy to overhear.

The enemy is very insidious and listens to the air, and also uses various gadgets to silence the signal, or to target and find out where the transmission is coming from, and then drop mines there. This is one of the reasons why the military needs good walkie-talkies. Not only they can encrypt data so that no one overhears, but they also have additional features that can mask the signal to make it seem like normal noise and not someone talking.

Protection against external damage is also important for walkie-talkies. The front-line is not a walk through the city, there is dust with mud, constant blows and falls, rain, water, and God knows what else. And as you know, cheap Chinese walkie-talkies will not last a day in such conditions, even a cover with a protective film will not help.

The walkie-talkie should also keep the battery charged for a long time. It is simply not possible to run to recharge it, and if at the most crucial moment you do not hear the warning, or do not report the enemy, it can cost lives. Good walkie-talkies usually have large batteries, as well as various energy-saving features that allow you to use them for several days.

Of course, not everyone needs super-duper cool walkie-talkies. Somewhere deeper in the rear, simpler models may be suitable, even with an analog connection. Well, on the front-line, it is desirable to have the best.

I buy such cool walkie-talkies for the guys from the front-line who are defending Ukraine in Luhansk region right now. The first batch proved to be excellent. But it will be necessary. And it is necessary now.

I must say about another existing problem, which may not be immediately obvious. Cool walkie-talkies are almost nowhere to be found! Many of them were bought at the beginning of the war, and stocks in various stores were small. New walkie-talkies are being made very slowly and not in the quantity we would like, because there has been a problem with semiconductors in the world for more than a year. So when I found a walkie-talkie from a supplier in France, I jumped for joy as a small child. They also made a discount and deducted VAT, because it’s for Ukraine!

This is the last batch of walkie-talkies we have to buy. This supplier has no more, and the wait for more is about six months. One walkie-talkie costs us 435 euros, plus the insured delivery of the batch to Poland - 150 euros. In Ukraine, I saw such walkie-talkies for 800 euro, although not the fact that it is available. In total, we need to buy 10 walkie-talkies. Yes, the amount is large, but I'm sure it's real to collect! And each donation, regardless of size, brings us closer to achieving our goal.
